the play sounds like good times. I read the book, it was pretty funny and worth the read.

“Filipina Honeydip”
I love that book but really, you have to read hella other books first to do it right. Hella James Baldwin. And White Boy Shuttle byPaul Beatty right before Mansbach.
Real talk though…that book is sooooo written by a White dude. It’s like, “This is how critical a White dude can get…he’s still White, and male.”

ive read the book and would like to see the play, but honestly the book suffers from many short comings that plaque not only modern novels, due to the editing standards of the publishing industry, but because i honestly feel the intent of the novel, to show how playing out race is complex and fluid and how power exercises itself through consent and coersion gets lost somewhere within the hip hoppin psuedo sci-fi narrative.
