Filipino Stand Up/Sit Down

We’ve been April Fooled long enough!

I have a confession to make: I’m Filipino (totally recommended!). But sometimes, when I’ve had a hard day at work and I’m feeling low–perhaps feeling asexualized, effeminate, subordinate, post-colonized, or just another product of hegemony, I look to images in mass media to affirm positivism in my identity. Nothing wrong with a little bit of racial vivaciousness to wake me up in the morning, ok….

But sometimes I look too hard…

  • People that Filipinos think are Filipino but are not:

Jay-Z

Foxy Brown aka Inga Fung Marchand

Pharrell

Prince

  • People that Filipinos wish were “more Filipino” (that is, they are Filipino in part but we shape them in our imagination to be waving Katipunan flags and dancing Tinikling on their off-days):

Shannyn Sossamon

Kristin Kreuk

Enrique Iglesias (pre-Filipino-mole-removal)

Ewoks

  • And finally… People that Filipinos wish were not Filipino:

Michelle Malkin

Gloria Macapagal

Happy April Fools Day. Let’s go rollerblading.

-Mark

that’s stupid, esp. when you’ve swallowed everything the Communist FRONT organizations in the Philippines has feed you. Not everyone thinks the President is pariah here.

You should go back here, to know that the Philippines is deep in its being a basket case because of the communist leftists propaganda. imagine an ideology since 1960’s still haunting the Philippines and destroying institutions thru mediamen that were at one time been indoctrinated by them in masscom in UP..masscom, that stupid course, where mediamen are taught to well, report/pose/speak??!!

The truth is, Communist Leftist still has an active armed guerillas that are terrorizing the countrysides and their more intellectual counterparts in the urban poor communities..go home and don’t judge thru internet news/tv reports..if i did just that, what would have i said of American politicians!!!

Gloria has done a very good job of the Philippine economy. most of the countryside now have internet, mobile phone, and good farm roads.that’s why the communists and opposition politicians who just want to be in power above and everything, will blacken her image, TO NO AVAIL, look at most of our local government politicians, they know that the President has done good.

Don’t judge remotely, go home!th kang maging american…hmmp!~

  7. Michele MalKKKin Says:

    Lisa,

You’re absolutely right. If you were to watch the American media and judge our president based on its reports, you wouldn’t be getting the whole story. The media wants us to believe that the War in Iraq is a failure with over 4,000 American deaths, 30,000 American casualties, and half a million Iraqi civilians dead. The media also wants us to believe that the American economy is going into recession and there’s a thing called Global Warming that international scientists say we should be concerned about.

Well all that’s baloney!!!! There have been no American casualties and the Iraqis are so happy that we’re there, they’re reproducing in record numbers and buidling statues of George Bush where the Saddam statues used to be! The American economy is flourishing also!! Just look at alll the people buying homes! Oh yeah and global warming? That’s a bunch of mumbo jumbo- Just pray and become Christian, and everything will become all better!!!!

By the way, you’re absolutely right about the Philippine economy. Since the Philippines gained independence, its imitation of the US free market model has done the country wonders! Just compare the Philippine economy to that of the rest of South East Asia. The Philippines has now has a larger economy than China, Indonesia and Vietnamese combined! How about that?

Keep up the good work on fighting those Lefties.

P.S. Equality and Human rights are overrated.

  9. Mark Says:

Lisa, I’m not really on boat with you, but the Macapagal point is hardly a propoganda stretch–her disapproval is widely held.

On another note, I don’t have evidence to say that Kristin Kruek is Pinay. I must have been misinformed by my weekly propanda journal’s celebrity gossip column. My bad.
